[edit] Welcome

BioImagingHU is an organization of Hungarian scientists that develop, use, or administer imaging solutions for life sciences research.

The Euro-BioImaging Consortium is a new pan-European ESFRI infrastructural network based on national networks integrating microscopy and medical imaging core facilities. The Hungarian Bioimaging Network is in synergy with this initiative, several institutes are its associate partners. BioImagingHU participates in Euro-BioImaging, and seeks to represent the views of Hungarian scientists that use imaging to Euro-BioImaging and the wider community. This Wiki serves as our central point of collaboration.

Microscopy and medical imaging play an essential role in basic and applied biomedical research, and their importance is increasing with the development of new technologies. Wide-spread appearance of microscopic methods approaching molecular resolution is expected. Imaging diagnostics and image-driven therapy are among the most rapidly advancing fields in medicine. Linking the two fields is justified: microscopy-based research from molecular to tissue level can be complemented with in vivo medical imaging.

The aim of the Bioimaging Network is to facilitate contacts between core facilities, keep participants informed about available instruments, make techniques accessible for national/international users.
Importantly, the most modern techniques should be available, but high instrument costs and need of expertise necessitate specialization, coordination of procurement and training, thereby optimizing utilization of resources. Giving access to techniques increases the level of basic and applied research, allows for a more accentuated presence in international science and facilitates collaboration with R&D enterprises. Clinical utilization of research improves quality of life.

All users (national or international) have equal opportunities of access. Access is granted after evaluation of the proposed scientific project by the managing personnel of the selected laboratory. Selection is based solely on the scientific quality of the project and the feasibility of its realization within the available time frame (maximal time frame is regulated by the individual laboratories). Initial inquiries and applications should be sent to the contact persons of the laboratories
