Besides providing high level routine imaging services (3T and 1.5T MR) Pecs Diagnostic Center (PDK) is committed to participate in training, research, development, and innovation with the clinics of the University of Pécs. The joint goal of the PDK and the University of Pecs is the creation of interdisciplinary, task-oriented work groups above and beyond traditional institutional and clinical organizations, and the development of unique multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. They also aim to achieve and optimize integrated interdisciplinary and equipment-centered research, and to initiate joint integrated graduate and post-graduate training programs with a multidisciplinary approach. The goals of the research consortium are the prevention of human endemic diseases related to the central nervous system, such as pain, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy and depression, from becoming chronic. It also aims to discover the physiological background and pathology of cognitive and perceptual processes; to develop protocols and finally, the training of research replacement highly qualified researcher base. This project, therefore, aims to create an institute that concentrates knowledge and builds bridges between the academic and the private sectors. The conscious cooperation between these sectors ensures the creation and utilization of medically and economically high quality intellectual property. Scientific and economic management is in accordance with the structure of science parks.<br /> | Besides providing high level routine imaging services (3T and 1.5T MR) Pecs Diagnostic Center (PDK) is committed to participate in training, research, development, and innovation with the clinics of the University of Pécs. [edit] About the facility
Our research infrastructure denote an important link between basic and applied sciences, since the technology is worked out for animal measurements (e.g. rat, monkey), nevertheless the same instrumentation is capable for human experimental studies. It is important to note, that our MR scanners represent the access of state-of-art technology in the network. The installation of a 1.5T scanner has just finished in these weeks, which present new methods that have not been available so far in Hungary. Some of the most important of these methods are dedicated ones in the field of oncology, which support both diagnostic work-up and the follow-up of therapy. As a consequence, development of new therapeutic approaches is becoming possible. The 3T MR scanner has been applied in our research projects for 2 years. Quantitative methods that were developed on our research infrastructure was applied by other members of the network (e.g. gel dosimetry – Kaposvár).
Scientific and economic management is in accordance with the structure of science parks.
